Global Protests Tracker

Interactive visualization of global protests (2017-2024) data from Carnegie Endowment for International Peace

About the Dataset

The Global Protest Tracker is a worldwide database of major antigovernment protests since 2017. It logs where and when protests occur, why they happen, how big they get, and how long they last. The dataset also captures triggers, outcomes, and whether governments respond with violence. Its definition of "significant" protests considers not just size but political context. Overall, it's a concise, up-to-date resource for understanding global patterns in unrest.
